On January 22, 2025, Michael Longley – described by the Guardian as a “Belfast poet of exceptional poise and eloquence” – passed away at the age eighty-five. Longley not only visited and spoke at the Zurich James Joyce Foundation; he also gifted us a handwritten copy of his poem “At James Joyce’s Grave,” which now adorns the wall of one of our rooms.
We invite everyone to join Ron Ewart and Andreas Flückiger in remembering this influential writer and generous friend.
