Fluntern Cemetery
Joyce was buried in a simple grave in Fluntern Cemetery, near the Zoo, on 15 January 1941.
It was a consolation for Nora that her husband would be able to hear the lions’ roar from his grave as he was very fond of them.
On 16 June 1966 (i.e. on Bloomsday), a bronze statue by the American sculptor Milton Hebald was added to Joyce’s grave.
Nora and Giorgo Joyce are buried in the same plot.
Lucia Joyce is buried in Kingsthorpe Cemetery, Northampton, UK, but in 2023 a commemorative plaque was added to symbolically reunite her with her family.
