Part of Aidan Hickey’s Ulysses <\/em>series<\/a>, which was exhibited in Zurich, at the UB Law, as part of the exhibit “James Joyce, Ulysses, and the Law”<\/a> (April 15 to May 18, 2025).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Calypso<\/em> displayed Leopold\u2019s domestic life. Lotus Eaters<\/em> exposes his secret fantasies. On his way to join colleagues at Dignam\u2019s funeral, Leopold meanders through Westland Row, visiting both St. Andrew\u2019s Church and a Turkish Bath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Sweny\u2019s Chemist shop he buys lemon soap for Molly. At the Post Office he collects a letter from an amorous lady-friend he has never met. His \u201cstream of consciousness\u201d teems with illogical juxtapositions, worthy of Magritte or di Chirico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lotus Eaters <\/em>also makes references to Baudelaire\u2019s Les Fleurs du mal<\/em>. The episode\u2019s hallucinogenic mood prefigures the Night-town scenes in Circe<\/em>.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
