Reinhardstrasse 7
This was Joyce’s first permanent address in Zurich. The family had had to pawn their furniture in Trieste in order to raise money for the journey from war-time Austria to Switzerland. His Triestine connections helped him find some private pupils, yet his earnings were not nearly enough. Thanks to Ezra Pound and W.B. Yeats, Joyce got his first grant, from the British Royal Literary fund.
(Reinhardstrasse 7 was demolished in 2010.)
